How to wash cashmere? – Comfortable with these four steps!
Wash cashmere in the washing machine
It is much easier to wash cashmere in the washing machine than you might think. However, there are a few things you should bear in mind when washing cashmere:
- Use your wool program at a maximum of 40 degrees for cashmere. Besides, you should reduce speed as much as possible.
- You mustn’t fill up the machine entirely and turn the garment inside out.
- Liquid wool detergent is suitable for the cashmere wash. Do not use fabric softener.
- If your cashmere garment has a stain, you should soap it first with ordinary shampoo and then wash it. Do not rub anything into it; otherwise, you will ruin the beautiful material.
Note: If you wash cashmere without a machine, make sure not to wring the garment out and not soak it for too long. In this case, it’s better to use shampoo.
After washing dry cashmere properly.
Cashmere can be dried both in the dryer and in the air. You should only pay attention to the following:
- If you choose the dryer, you must dry cashmere in cold air, preferably at the lowest temperature.
- If you prefer to air dry your garment, you should know that cashmere should always be lying down. So put the clothes drying rack up, place a clean and dry towel on the empty tray and then place the cashmere garment on top of it.
Do not wash cashmere clothes all the time.
Cashmere doesn’t need to be getting washed as often, but this also depends on how often you wear the garment. This type of fabric has some unique features.
With cashmere, it is usually sufficient to air the garment overnight – lying down. This is best done by hanging it outdoors, for example, on a covered terrace. Thanks to the cuddly fabric, this is quite sufficient.
However, you should not wear cashmere the next day, because the fabric needs a little rest. It is best to wear it again the day after the next day.
Remember to wash the garment after the third or fourth use at the latest. This interval is entirely sufficient for cashmere.
Cashmere washing with hands
If a wool washing cycle is not available in the machine, cashmere can also be getting cleaned with a delicate hand wash. The water should only be lukewarm, and the roll should be rather short.
It is better to avoid soaking. Please do not rub; otherwise, the precious item will become matted. Rinse the detergent thoroughly and squeeze the wool slightly after washing.
You can also wrap the laundry in a towel to remove the remaining moisture. It will prevent damage to the delicate fibers.
- Use lukewarm water
- Washing process should only take a short time
- Do not rub
- Rinse garment well
- Squeeze wool easily
- Wrap cashmere clothes in a cloth
Ironing cashmere properly
When ironing the delicate fabric, use the lowest setting, and be sure to place a cloth between the iron and the garment.
This way, the fluffiness is retained, and unloved shine is getting avoided. Do not use steam at all.
- Use the lowest level
- Place cloth between iron and garment
- Do not steam
Detergent for cashmere
The best cleanser for cashmere is a wool detergent or a special detergent for cashmere. It is refatting and does not contain bleach, brighteners, or fabric softeners.
Thus the natural protective layer of the wool fibers is preserved. Besides individual care products, good shampoo can also be getting used.
- Wool or special cashmere detergents are best.
- Good hair shampoo can also be getting used.
