- The last step is to fix the tap wrench to the upper end of the screw extractor. To do this, turn the adjustable steel handle until the clamping jaws close around the left-hand extractor. Then the extractor is placed on the hole in the screw and turned anti-clockwise to the left. The screw extractor now tries through its conical tip into the screw.

The friction between the left-handed extractor and the screw is so high that the screw starts to rotate. It releases from an awkward situation. Turn the tap wrench until the broken-off screw removes from the thread.
